These days, anything goes at baby showers.

They’re not the traditional, conservative affairs they once were. We did some research and asked friends and relatives for some fun and creative baby shower tips.

Here are some of our favorites:
• Co-ed baby showers. That’s right, even though baby showers are traditionally an all-woman’s affair, there’s nothing wrong with bringing the men in. In fact, they may enjoy the opportunity to be more involved with the pregnancy. Here’s the catch – avoid pink and frilly. Instead, opt for a pool party or barbeque.

• Build baby’s first library. This idea is perfect for a second baby shower, since you probably have all you need from the first go-around. Ask guests to bring a copy of their favorite childhood books. They can even sign them or write a special message inside the cover for a treasured keepsake.

• It’s all about mom shower. Pregnancy can be tiring and stressful, especially while raising children and dealing with other responsibilities. Skip out on your typical blue and pink affair with cake and presents and opt for a day at the spa with the girls. Either choose a location that specializes in pre-natal massage and care or host the spa at your home. Have guests bring lotions, oils, incense or candles. Create a Zen-like atmosphere with relaxing music. You can even bring in a masseuse and manicurist for the afternoon.

Have you had or attended a baby shower that strayed from the ordinary? We’d love to hear about it!
